Dear Candidate for Grand Island Town Council,
The West River Homeowners Association represents many of the 250 homeowners who live along the West River and nearby roads.
We all care deeply about how our neighborhood and community are managed.
In past years, we have had trouble getting steady support from the Town Board so we are asking how you plan to address our concerns if you are elected in November.
We see this as a chance for you and the other candidates to share your views with our members.
We're asking for you to please send short answers of about 100 to 200 words for each question below. We’ll share your replies at our
membership meeting on October 27, 2025.
Additionally, we are asking you to acknowledge receipt of this email.

New York State Parks and West River Parkway
New York State Parks control more than half of the shoreline.
How will you address the impact of the current "high/low" mowing policy on insects and rodents?
How should shoreline maintenance and invasive species be handled?
The dock permitting process for the West River is a difficult and frustrating process.
What changes would you work towards to the dock permit process more user friendly?
Long Road Development
What is your position on large buildings and warehouse projects west of the Thruway?
How will you deal with drainage problems and protect designated wetlands in this area?
What steps would you support to reduce noise and light from future projects here and other locations on Grand Island?
Traffic and Safety
What can be done to improve safety and vehicle speed enforcement on West River Road and connecting streets?
Property Reassessment
Many homes on the West River are over-assessed. Some owners are appealing, but others are older and find it too much to handle.
What is your view of the reassessment? Should it be reviewed or done again within four years?
Our main concern is whether you will represent and work with West River homeowners as we face these issues.
